The 3rd plenary session of the SUNRISE project convened from January 20-21, 2025 in Bilbao, Spain, marking a pivotal gathering hosted by Osakidetza and Bio-Bizkaia.
The event brought together esteemed partners from across Europe to assess the initial outcomes of the project’s first year, focusing on innovative approaches to foster long-term health behavior change among adolescents.
The meeting served as a platform for comprehensive discussions on the project’s progress, emphasizing the development and implementation of digital intervention tools tailored to diverse socio-economic, cultural, and environmental backgrounds of adolescents.
The project activities organized the first year, brought together participants
such as: educators, adolescents, parents, public health experts, and policy-makers, each contributing valuable insights into shaping effective strategies.
Key highlights from the session included presentations on survey findings, co-creation activities, and comparative analyses of partner countries’ approaches to digital intervention tools.
The unveiling of demos and progress updates on these tools underscored their potential impact in promoting sustainable health behaviors and raising awareness for cancer prevention among young populations.
The fruitful two-day session concluded with concrete recommendations and outlined next steps to ensure the project’s objectives are met successfully.
This milestone not only strengthens partnerships but also reaffirms commitment to advancing youth health across Europe.
PARTICLE in SUNRISE
In the first year of the SUNRISE Project, PARTICLE was particularly active in contributing to the co-creation process, namely the monitoring phase as defined by the MapStakes methodology, and extracting multi-actor requirements following the Volere methodology. Further, PARTICLE was instrumental to define the SUNRISE mobile and web applications that will support the cancer prevention interventions across Europe. PARTICLE will also bring PARTICLE.TALK to support the SUNRISE pilot activities, deploying a private social media platform that serves as a safe space for the adolescents to share their thoughts and clarify their questions and concerns regarding cancer prevention.
