Gathering almost 200 experts in the command and control domain for four days, this is one of the world’s premier scientific conferences on topics related to Command and Control.

ICCRTS acknowledges the relevance of continuously innovating the implementation of command and control considering today’s challenging world. Upholding an Interoperability Framework especially designed for adapting to the command and control needs of joint missions, the SEAGUARD project has made its way into raising awareness to the need of adjusting to different command and control (C2) approaches to effectively perform joint maritime surveillance missions.

To an audience of command and control practitioners, Marco Manso (PARTICLE) explained how the SAFEGUARD project is implementing a complex system of personnel, equipment, and procedures that relies on interoperable technologies and data fusion to create a coherent operational picture. Key components include leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for data analysis, employing secure and unified communication systems across the different platforms, and establishing integrated C2 structures to coordinate multi-domain assets, particularly unmanned vehicles. This allows for faster decision-making, advanced task management, and enhanced situational awareness in a complex, interconnected maritime environment. This Symposium was an excellent forum to disseminate the results of the SEAGUARD project, making C2 professionals aware of the convergence needed in technology and command and control structures to effectively address threats and incidents in the execution of maritime surveillance missions, such as sea control, border surveillance, and illegal activity prevention.

See online article at LinkedIn.

Funded by the European Union.

On November 4th 2025, Marco Manso (from PARTICLE) presented the SEAGUARD Interoperability Framework at the 30th edition of the International Command and Control Research Technology Symposium, hosted by the Swedish Defence University in collaboration with the Swedish Defence Research Agency and organised by the International Command and Control Institute.
